Bouguer’s equation

Pierre Bouguer (1698 – 1758) was a French mathematician, geophysicist, geodesist, and astronomer. In his book “Traité du navire, de sa construction et de ses mouvements” (1746), Bouguer introduced the concept of metacentric radius, BM, and calculated the stability of a vessel floating at a small angle of heel by combining this concept with geometric arguments.
