Hi, everyone! Welcome to this course on Yacht Surveying.

My name is Vladimir Kostov, and I have the pleasure of introducing you to the world of yacht surveying. Let me introduce myself briefly. I am a Master Mariner and a graduate Naval Architect from Varna, Bulgaria, and I am currently working for a marine surveying company here in Bulgaria.

I have had a passion for ships and boats ever since I was a child, and this is why I chose a career in the maritime industry. I studied at the Naval Academy here in Varna, and after graduating, I started my seagoing career on board various types of merchant ships, from bulk carriers to very large crude carriers, chemical tankers, and passenger ships.

After obtaining my ocean-going Master’s license, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to start working as a marine surveyor, and I have been doing this ever since. Only after starting work as a marine surveyor did I discover how fascinating and diverse this job can be, and this is what made me take a further step forward. I then completed my second Master’s degree in Naval Architecture at the Technical University here in Varna.

Working around boats and ships is a truly fascinating job for me. It is an experience full of excitement and great opportunities, which I really hope to pass on to you during this course. I hope I will be able to guide you on this journey and share my passion for boats and yacht surveying, so that by the end of the course, you will be as fascinated by this job as I am..
