If you ever looked at a yacht or a super yacht interior and thought, “Wow!!, I want to design that”. Well, this is where you can start.

This is the level 1 of the Yacht Interior Design course series, and it is designed to take you from zero foundations to a very solid, professional understanding of what this industry actually demands.

We begin where everything begins, understanding the world you are entering, the marine industry. What does a yacht interior designer actually do? What are the main differences between yacht types, monohulls, catamarans, motor or sailing yachts, and why they could represent different challenges in terms of design? What are the differences between a yacht, a superyacht, or a megayacht, and why do you need to consider those differences when you get to design them? We will cover it all with real examples.

Then we go deep into something that many designers overlook when they first enter this industry, the General Arrangement drawing. The single document, or actually a technical drawing, drives the entire interior design process of a yacht. Once you understand it, you will see the whole project differently. Why is it so important to keep the whole process alive? We will understand how to start filling in the puzzle with all the yacht components and how to finalize the document that accompanies the yacht’s actual delivery.

From there, we will move into the design process, which is the core of this course. We walk through every single phase, the conceptual stage, the whole design development, verification, including why building a physical mockup sometimes could be very important for ergonomics, for client approval, and many other reasons throughout the final production and the delivery of the yacht. We will also cover design styles, design spaces, furniture, and materials; the differences between standard, semi-custom, and fully custom furniture; how to work with suppliers; and how to select materials and finishes that are not only beautiful but also suited to the marine environment.

Because representation matters as much as design, we dedicate real time to how to present your work professionally. Mood boards, floor plans, material selections, and visualization methods. You will learn what a serious interiors yacht design presentation must include. By the end of level one, you will complete a project by designing or redesigning a real yacht interior area, not a simulation, but a proper portfolio project.

Whether you are an architect, an industrial or interior designer ready to pivot into yachts, or you are a naval architecture student willing to specialize in yacht interiors, or you are already in the marine industry, but you want to have a deeper experience designing yacht interiors, this course has been designed with you in mind.

The course is structured into 3 levels with a logical, professional progression. The very first level is your entry point to get into this unique and amazing industry, designing interiors for yachts and superyachts.

If you’re thinking about that, enroll now, and let’s get started.
