Yacht 3D Modeling with Rhino. Level 3 + Rendering with V-Ray

This course teaches advanced training in command sequences, rendering, and modeling techniques to enhance design performance. You will learn to create and use macros, manage renderings, and adjust materials, lighting, and camera settings. The course culminates in an engaging final project: a 60-foot flybridge multi-deck motor yacht, where you will be encouraged to experiment with different design variations to boost creativity and help develop your own unique style. This course is the final part of a three-level Rhino course that started with the software’s basics, explored intermediate tools, and now dives into advanced features.

Welcome!

Welcome to Yacht 3D Modeling with Rhino. Level 3 + Rendering with V-Ray!

This is the final part of a three-level Rhino course that started with the software’s basics, explored intermediate tools, and now dives into advanced features.

The course is structured to train you in complex command sequences, rendering, and modeling techniques, allowing you to refine your design performance.

What will you learn?

The course will begin with guidance on how to speed up iterative processes to avoid wasting time. We will explore creating and using macros, which will be vital to making repetitive processes more efficient. We will get the most out of AI (Artificial Intelligence) to use our macros easily in everyday work.

Next, we will explore creating exterior renderings, covering material creation and lighting settings, and learning how to change general camera parameters. We will use the V-Ray plugin, a renderer engine that allows you to embody your design in realistic images. The rendering process could be tricky if you are unaware of its essentials. So, we will explain the triangle of materials, lights, and general settings in detail to achieve outstanding images.

Toward the end of the course, we will tackle a stimulating final project: a 60-foot flybridge multi-deck motor yacht. We will model the bow, main deck, transom, cockpit, and superstructure up to the upper deck or flybridge. This advanced project is designed to help you master the complex shapes of a yacht deck house, which pose unique challenges. Throughout the project, you’ll be encouraged to experiment with variations, fostering your creativity and allowing you to develop your own personal style.

Software License & Version

This course teaches the software Rhino. Its content is valid for Rhino versions 87, and 6. Students can follow the course with either of those versions.

It also teaches the rendering plugin V-Ray. Its content is valid for V-Ray versions 6 and 5. Students can follow the course with either of those versions.

The course does not provide a license for any of the software mentioned. Otherwise, Rhino offers a 90-day free full version for evaluation and discounts for students in state-accredited schools and faculties, and V-Ray offers a 30-day free license and either a monthly or annual license after that.

Course Organization

The course is video-based and on-demand, allowing you to learn at your own pace, wherever and whenever you want.

It includes videos, quizzes, and downloadable documents, and provides access to the course’s virtual private classroom, where you can interact with the instructor and other students.

Upon completion of the course, you will receive a Course Certificate. To obtain the Course Certificate, you must complete all lessons, pass the quizzes, and have your Course Assignment approved.

Resources:

  • Video lessons.
  • English captions.
  • Written materials.
  • Quizzes.
  • Final Assignment.
  • Virtual Private Classroom.
  • Course Certificate.

– Classroom:

  • Once enrolled, you will have access to the virtual classroom, where you can interact with the course instructor and fellow students.

Prerequisites:

  • Whether you took the first two levels or learned it on your own, at this point, you should be an intermediate Rhino user because we are going to use the expertise you already have in developing a 3D model, which will be a complex task if you are a beginner practitioner.

  • A minimum Navalapp membership level of “Subscriber” (free membership) is required to enroll in this course.
