Meet the Instructor

Designing yachts is a unique experience. It’s not only a job, but it’s also a way of life, a profession that will capture you forever. For some designers, getting into the yacht industry could be a challenge, but I’m here to testify that everything is possible.

My name is Lisandro Torres, and I will be your instructor on this yacht interior design course.

I was born and raised in Argentina, and since I was a child, I was always fascinated by objects, the way they work, the way they feel. That curiosity led me to study industrial design, and after graduating from university in 2000, I packed up and moved to Italy, where I lived for many years. So it is exactly in Italy where everything started.

For the yachting industry, Italy is the strongest country in the world, so I was in the right place to start, and once I was in, I never looked back. I had the chance to work both as an interior designer and as an exterior yacht designer for some of the best names in the industry, such as Benetti and Wally, as well as for design studios such as Studio Sculli, Pininfarina, and Or Lo Studio M, among others.

Those years in Italy gave me a deep work experience, a complete understanding of the whole design process from the very initial conceptual stage, first sketches, all the way through the design development, technical drawings, GA’s, 3D modeling, mockup construction, final production of the yacht, interiors and exteriors, project management of the whole process, including the delivery of the yacht.
I now live in the UK, where I have had the chance to work for companies such as Sealine and Sunseeker for many years, and for other design studios such as Tony Castro Yacht Design and RWD. I am still collaborating with Italian design studios and shipyards.

And that is exactly what I want to give you in this course: not just the theory, but my over 25 years of real-world experience working in shipyards and design studios, designing yacht interiors from the very conceptual stage through final production, including the delivery of amazing yachts.

Will you join me in this great journey?
