New Course Alert
Our brand-new Introduction to Offshore Wind course is coming soon!
Offshore wind energy is a rapidly growing field that is expected to play an important role in our future energy mix. It is a complex technology that involves many different systems and disciplines.
This course provides a clear overview of offshore wind technology, giving students the essential knowledge needed to work in this area. Building on an explanation of basic fluid mechanics, the course will explain the key concepts behind wind turbine and wind farm aerodynamics, the wind resource, wind turbine yield and control, the offshore environment, and the hydrodynamics of turbine foundations.
By the end of the course, students will understand how all the components of an offshore wind farm work. They’ll be able to analyze site conditions, select the foundation type, and assess energy production—skills directly applicable to the wind energy industry. Additionally, they will understand the principles and procedures behind wind turbine and wind turbine foundation design, with a focus on the additional complexities of emerging floating wind turbines.
We are on a mission to make Yacht Design, Naval Architecture, and Ocean Engineering accessible. This journey is only possible because of you. Thank you very much for being part of it!
