About the Course

This introductory course provides a structured overview of the yacht design profession and guides you through the main stages of an exterior and interior design workflow, from historical context, typology studies and early concepts through to materials, layouts, CAD development, specifications, visual communication and final presentation.

You will explore yacht design history and philosophies, boat and yacht typologies, design principles, cultural aspects, basic regulatory considerations, materiality, lighting, accessories, ergonomics, layout planning, exterior form development, structure, hull form creation, 2D and 3D CAD work, visualization and presentation methods.

The course shows how exterior form and interior space influence one another, how user needs and practical constraints shape design decisions, and how ideas are communicated, reviewed, and refined during a yacht design project.
