In this course, we present the process of homologating and certifying a boat in the European Union in a clear, concise, and appealing way. It covers the European Recreational Craft Directive 2013/53/UE (RCDII or RCD2) and focuses on the key elements to obtain a boat's CE marking.

  • Maxsurf 1

    Master how to model vessels of any type and length with Maxsurf and learn many Naval Architecture and Yacht design concepts along the way! In this course, the instructor will guide you through modeling two vessels using the Maxsurf modeler: a sharp-bilge Pilot Boat and a Sailing Boat with a round bilge. By the end of the course, you will not only know how to model hulls from a linesplan, but you will also have learned how to model details such as appendages, propeller tunnels, bulwarks, cabins, skegs, forecastle decks, and more, how to use modeling techniques and most of the modeling commands, and how to interpret the results obtained and validate your models.
  • Sailing Yacht Design 1

    This introductory course will cover the main aspects of the design of sailing yachts: theoretical fundamentals, yacht modeling, hull and appendage resistance, sail forces, stability, and velocity prediction programs.

  • Sailing Yacht Design 1 + Sail Design 1

  • Sailing Yacht Design 1 + Stability & Evaluation with ISO 12217

    Enroll simultaneously in the Sailing Yacht Design 1 and Stability & Evaluation with ISO 12217 courses and learn the main aspects of the design of sailing yachts and gain a deep understanding of yacht stability and how to apply this knowledge to use the ISO 12217 Standard for assessment and categorization of sailing boats.
  • Scantling with ISO 12215

    This course will explain the ISO 12215 - 5 standard, perform a complete calculation of a monohull, help analyze the results obtained, and explain why some solutions are more suitable than others. The course develops step-by-step scantling calculations of a 17m length GPR sailboat: hull, appendages, and rig.

  • Stability & Evaluation with ISO 12217

    After completing this course, you will deeply understand ship stability in the context of yachts and small craft and how to apply this knowledge to use the ISO 12217 Standard, “Small craft — Stability and buoyancy assessment and categorization,” Part 2, “Sailing boats of hull length greater than or equal to 6 m.”

  • Structural Design & Scantling with ISO 12215

    Structural design and scantling determination are crucial steps in a vessel’s design process since providing sufficient structural strength is one of the main objectives when designing floating devices. Moreover, they also affect other aspects of a vessel, such as resistance and stability. By completing this course, you will be able to design the structure of a boat, understand the ISO 12215 norm and the fundamentals behind it, and apply this norm to evaluate the scantling of either motorboats or sailing yachts.

  • Yacht Surveying 1

    The first of a two-part series dedicated to Yacht Surveying, this course is for those wanting to get professional insight into Yacht Surveying and/or planning to venture further into this area. When completing this course, you will have learned about different organizations in the marine industry, rules and regulations related to boats and yachts and how they may affect the activity of the yacht surveyor, different types of surveys, important considerations related to each one, and the survey process, including preparation, safety issues, instructions, tools, and reporting.
