Hello and welcome to the world of parametric design.
My name is Kristijan Nikl, and I will be your instructor.
Since I was a little kid, I always dreamt about boats, drawing them on endless sheets of paper, and building them to scale out of balsa wood.
That passion led me to become a Bachelor of Wood Sciences and Technology, graduating from the University of Ljubljana.
In the year 2006, I joined Seaway, one of the most recognizable naval companies in the world at that time, which was located in my home country, Slovenia.
In 2009, I went my own way by founding Nikl Design and starting to work with Marex Boats from Norway.
We made quite a few boats together and won many Motorboat of the Year awards along the way.
I worked on the design and the complete engineering of the following boats: Marex 320, Aft Cabin Cruiser, Marex 375, the 310 Sun Cruiser, the 360 Cabriolet Cruiser, and the 330 Scandinavia.
Working with such a company as Marex was a great opportunity to grow and learn by being tightly connected with the top guys during the design while also being present at the actual production of the boats, understanding every step along the way.
In 2022, I took a pause from the naval industry and went down a completely different path by teaching kids about technology.
For the last two years, however, I returned to the naval industry, working as a part-time freelancer, doing naval and drawing hulls like the ones you see on the Marex 390.
