Hello everyone!
My name is Arianna Sala, and I’ll be your instructor for the Introduction to Offshore Wind course.
A little about my background: I studied Energy Engineering in Italy, where I explored various methods of energy production. There, I chose to focus on wind energy and moved to the Netherlands, where I earned a Master’s in Sustainable Energy Technology, specializing in Wind Energy. My thesis was on the aerodynamics of floating offshore wind turbines, which exposed me to this exciting and innovative technology.
After completing my studies, I moved to Spain to kickstart my career in the Offshore Wind industry. Initially, I worked on assessing site conditions for offshore wind farms, and today, I’m with a company specializing in offshore engineering. This has allowed me to broaden my expertise, from the design to the construction of offshore wind farms.
Throughout my journey, I’ve remained passionate about both learning and sharing knowledge in wind energy. It’s such an exciting field—engineering massive structures that endure harsh offshore conditions for decades is a remarkable achievement. And I’m eager to guide you through it!
This course is designed to provide you with a comprehensive overview of offshore wind. It’s a multidisciplinary field, so it may seem overwhelming at first—trust me, I remember feeling the same way when I started! But that’s exactly why this course exists.
Whether you’re completely new to wind energy and offshore engineering or you already have some background in relevant areas, this course will provide you with a solid foundation in offshore wind.
If you’re curious about how we harness wind power at sea and want to learn more, you’re in the right place.
I look forward to seeing you soon in the course!
