Now in Early Access: Parametric Design with Grasshopper 1

We are pleased to announce the launch of Parametric Design with Grasshopper 1, now available on Navalapp.
The course is available on demand and also includes access to its private virtual classroom.
🔶 Learn parametric modeling
The course introduces practical parametric 3D modeling with Grasshopper, focusing on yacht geometry.
Starting with the fundamentals of Grasshopper, you will learn to build clean, functional definitions, establish relationships between geometric elements, and use parameters to control dimensions, proportions, and shapes as the design evolves.
Through practical exercises, you will progressively work on:
• Cockpit and floor liner geometry
• Bathing platform and sheer line
• Hull-side and bow surfaces
• Hardtop geometry
• Grasshopper and Rhino workflows
The course develops from relatively simple geometry toward more complex NURBS surfaces, giving you the foundation to create and develop your own parametric definitions.
🔶 Complete the XYZ 29 Final Assignment
To complete the course, you will parametrically model the main GRP geometry of XYZ 29, a center-console boat designed by instructor Kristijan Nikl specifically for this course.
You will create the principal hull and deck surfaces, center console, windscreen, and hardtop, then test your definition by changing parameters to verify that the geometry responds correctly.
Once your Final Assignment has been reviewed and approved, you will receive your Course Certificate.
🔶 Learn with Kristijan Nikl
Kristijan Nikl brings years of practical yacht design and engineering experience to the course, including his work with Marex Boats on several award-winning yachts.
