Scantling determination and ISO 12215
Scantling is the process of determining the dimensions of the different elements of a structure (e.g., panels and reinforcements in the case of a hull) so that they can be manufactured. ISO 12215 is a scantling standard that applies to recreational and commercial craft and workboats up to 24 meters in length. Compliance with ISO 12215 is mandatory for obtaining the CE marking and, therefore, for selling boats in the European Union.
